Not Another Bad Role Model - Nancy Spungen Tribute Poem

Nancy Spungen to Sid Vicious on the 12th of October 1978 found under the sink at the Chelsea Hotel New York

It's the same old song and dance my friend

From 17 to 20

Years passing like the dilation of eyes

A needle on a bathroom tile

You're a regular scientist

Your chemical misproportion an excess and a drought

It bleaches

Seeps into my own

Regrets, yes I'm sure you've had a few

Your knife, your room key

Sour tasting sweat

I'm paying the earth shop to hoard my final scores

Do you miss me and the Chelsea?

Now your spikes have deflated, you scared acid tongued reptile

Graeco-Roman hands above heads lines a broken statue stomach

I'm quiet now

Even as a baby umbilical cord around my neck like a microphone

Choking out the screams

Screwball, roll me the dice

Forming a beatnik hat

Kiss me all over

Exile me to that soggy smoked sofa

The slot machines hitting

100,

100,

100

Comedy's a nuclear rocket

007 chasing it up into the sky

Fire turning me into hell dust

You've got to

Go,go,go,go

Behind the bars

Head lolling against the ends of the U-bend

Body buried mummering in golden shoes spinning me down

Your carcass in the cooler

Stuck there longer for someone's brother than for the girl who bought her death

You did it your way
