A Guide to Effortless Style

Looking and being fashionable isn’t about wearing the most expensive clothes or keeping up with the latest trends. Who has the budget for that anyway? To me, being fashionable is about adding detail to your outfit, playing with colours, and ultimately owning your look!

I have collated some ways you can become instantly fashionable, without making it look like you have put too much thought into your outfit.

1. Colour Coordinate!

Start with two or three base colours which you will form your outfit around, and work up from there. When wearing colour, I like to keep other aspects of my outfit neutral. For example, pairing a fun coloured skirt and a white vest. Now that you’ve got your outfit prepared, add in some jewellery to compliment the look, and match your makeup colours with your outfit where you can. No matter what colours you have selected, you will have an instant stylish look from these few simple steps.

2. Jewellery!

Jewellery can do a lot of the talking for your outfit. A piece of jewellery can make a plain tracksuit look cool, trust me! Adding some earrings can bring attention to your features and hairstyle, whilst layering necklaces highlights your form and figure.

3. Mixing Textures

Mixing and layering textures is personally one of my favourite ways of making simple outfits look chic. Pile a few different fabrics in one - a PU jacket with a rib knit, either mixing colours or blending the same tonal colour.

4. Bags, Bags, Bags

Adding a fun statement bag, or your favourite cross body, is another easy way to effortlessly upgrade your look. It draws focus to your bag (which we can all agree is our favourite part anyway!). A good tip is to adjust your bag, so it sits on your waist, just above your waistline, as it’s very flattering.

5. Blazers

If you know me, you know I love a blazer. It’s such a reliable piece to have in your wardrobe, and is so versatile. For a casual look, add a graphic tee underneath, or, to look smart and sophisticated, add a blazer to some fitted jeans and a nice pair of mules, *chefs kiss*
