Science of Thinking - Reframing Your Mindset

The way we think and therefore act is governed by the neurons in our brain. As humans it is in our nature to seek comfort, and so we resist mental challenges and shy away from pain. The subconscious mind is a map of conclusions and beliefs that we thread together over time and it is heavily influenced by our surroundings and experiences. As creatures of habit, this often means that our thoughts are repeated, and our natural thought processes become almost one dimensional. When trying to form new habits, this consistency and repetition can be used to our advantage in training our minds for success. However, certain repeated thought patterns can hinder our ability to adapt and create mental shifts. The subconscious mind craves comfort, so we often like to listen to the voice of yesterday because its familiarity creates a false cocoon of safety.

Science proves that our brains can evolve and grow as our nerves adapt and respond to new experiences. When we actively engage in new environments that challenge our way of thinking it allows new neural pathways to develop in what we call neural plasticity. Wherever we focus our attention is where neural pathways grow and strengthen, therefore we can train our brains to focus on the positives and cultivate a mindset that is strong and resilient. Enriching your environment by engaging in different environments will impact your brain in a positive way and offer your brain fresh stimulation to develop a stronger sense of awareness. Creating new thought patterns is a form of agency, taking control of your thoughts so that they do not control you. By challenging your internal environment, you can rewire the way you think and cultivate a mindset for success.
